Norma Bowen
Costume Designer

Norma (aka Prunella Vulgaris, the Witch in the Wardrobe) is an associate artist with CTF. Murder on the Nile is her 11th costume design for the Festival. Favourite costume designs include An Inspector Calls, A Streetcar Named Desire, and Little Women. Norma is a graduate of Studio 58.

Robin Boxwell
Sound Designer

Robin is pleased to be back in Chemainus. He has worked with Chemainus Theatre Festival in previous productions such as I Do I Do and My Fair Lady. Robin recently finished working on a production of Urinetown, The Musical with Bard to Broadway. Robin will be working with Nanaimo's TheatreOne as Production Manager and Sound Designer on Being Frank - The Frank Ney Story. Robin dedicates this production to his father Robert Boxwell.

Dan Costain
Dr. Bessner

Dan is a native Victorian and a musical theatre veteran. Past Chemainus credits: Hello, Dolly! and Annie. He spent 9 seasons with the Charlottetown Festival: Anne of Green Gales, Johnny Belinda, Guys & Dolls, The Shooting of Dan McGrew and Puttin' on the Ritz. For over a decade he performed with the Dawson City and Whitehorse Follies & Fort Steele's Wild Horse Theatre. He worked with Victoria's Kaleidoscope Theatre touring as far as Singapore and Brunei. Arts Club Vancouver productions include: Dames at Sea, Singing in the Rain, Evita, and Beauty and the Beast. Recent credits: One More Time (Mary Windpear Theatre) and Urinetown (Belfry).

Alex Currie
Production Stage Manager

Alex is excited to be at CTF working on Murder on the Nile, as the Production Stage Manager. This is Alex's 21st show with CTF, his 6th year with the company and his 5th as Resident Stage Manager. Alex was recently in Vancouver, stage managing Green Thumb Theatre's production of RAGE at the Waterfront Theatre. A graduate of The University of Windsor's BFA Acting Program, Alex made the switch to Stage Management 7 years ago. Favourite credits include: The Qualities of Zero (Jack in the Black, Tarragon Theatre), RAGE (Green Thumb Theatre), An Ideal Husband, and A Christmas in Wales (CTF). Enjoy!

Mark Dumez
Simon Mostyn

As an Artistic Associate with the Chemainus Theatre Festival, favourite shows include Enchanted April, A Streetcar Named Desire, Queen Milli of Galt and the role of Mark Dolson in Mass Appeal. Other highlights throughout North America include Henry V (Kentucky Shakespeare Festival), Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman (Theatre X) and one-man shows: Finding Centre, Flying Fruitcakes and You Are Mine. Mark looks forward to creating new work with the McLean Mill National Historic Site in Port Alberni this summer and with CTF in the coming season.

Sylvie Gosse
Christina Grant

Sylvie is thrilled to make her debut at The Chemainus Theatre Festival. She is returning to beautiful Vancouver Island for the first time since graduating from the Canadian College of Performing Arts. After traveling and performing throughout Hawaii, the Caribbean and China, she has spent the last while in her hometown of Vancouver doing Cabaret and Beauty and the Beast at The Arts Club Theatre. Some other favourite stage credits include Assassin (Quintessence), Kiss Me Kate (TUTS), Fosse Fosse Fosse (NY Jazz Co). She sends her love to her ever supportive family and Eric.

Rebekah Johnson
Lighting Designer

Rebekah is pleased to be designing in Chemainus again. Previous credits include Annie and A Streetcar Named Desire. Other recent shows out and about include Honour for The Belfry/Prairie Theatre Exchange (Victoria/Winnipeg), Don't Hug Me for Magnus Theatre in Thunder Bay and Pith for Sunshine Theatre in Kelowna. She lives on the island, here in the beautiful Cowichan Valley. She is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada, of IATSE 168, and is the proud grandma of Ajna Freedom, who will be six in May.

Hal Kerbes
Canon Pennefather

Selected Theatre: Urinetown, Blood Brothers, Evita, Romance/Romance, Merry Widow, The Sound of Music with companies including Theatre Calgary, Citadel, Edmonton Opera, Vertigo, Stage West & Ground Zero. Selected Film/TV: Johnson County War, Tom Stone & September Dawn. Of interest: Hal's written for television and stage, created countless interactive mysteries, and received the 2004 Greg Bond Memorial award for contribution to Musical Theatre. Hal is co-artistic director of Shadow Productions.

Kathryn Kerbes

Kathryn is thrilled to be working in beautiful Chemainus. Selected theatre credits: Agnes of God, A Christmas Carol, Deathtrap, Shear Madness, The Last Resort, Who Has Seen the Wind, Spider's Web. Film and TV: Into the West, Identity Theft. Kathryn is an artistic director and ensemble member with Shadow Productions. Awards: 1998 Harry and Martha Cohen award for sustained and significant contribution to theatre in Calgary. Love to Sarah and Hannah.

Krista J Konkin
Kay Mostyn

Born in Saskatchewan, Krista arrived in Vancouver three years ago via a ten year adventure in Toronto. She is honored to make her west coast debut in Chemainus. Career highlights include: the Canadian debut of Soup du Jour (Petrolia Playhouse Theatre), Cabaret (Sudbury Theatre), Gaslight Follies (Dawson City, Yukon), Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream (UNI Theatre), as well as the writer, director, choreographer and cast member of Come Sail Away! which toured in 2001. She would like to dedicate her performance to her dialect coach and life partner, Jax, who fell from the stars and renewed her faith in miracles.

Richard McBride

Murder on the Nile is Richard's Chemainus debut. Selected Theatre: Fiddler On The Roof (Vancouver Playhouse), Gypsy (Theatre Calgary), four seasons with the Charlottetown Festival, Alan Lund's Anne of Green Gables (Elgin Theatre), the premiere of Dale Wasserman's Western Star (Redondo Beach CLO), and Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby. Recent Film: Elf and Life of Something Like It. As a professional figure skater, ice shows include the US tour of Grease On Ice starring Nancy Kerrigan. Joëlle Rabu
Louise

For the past two decades, Joëlle has performed both her concert The Time of our Lives and her musical drama Tonight...Piaf throughout five continents. She is the recipient of 2 JESSIE Awards, has been nominated for a JUNO Award; released 6 recordings; and most recently, won a Touring Artist of the Year Award, and an Excellence in the Arts Cultural Award. For the past 12 years, Joëlle's made Nanaimo her home and when she isn't touring, she enjoys writing for special events and lending a hand in community awareness projects.

Lisa Waines
Jacqueline de Severac

Lisa is thrilled to be making her debut at Chemainus Theatre Festival this summer playing such fantastic gals. Recently, she directed an Equity co-op production of Elaine May's, Not Enough Rope at the Beaumont Studios and developed a solo show for the fringe festival where she played a larva coming to consciousness regarding her impending pupation. Favourite productions include: Private Lives (Atlantic Theatre Festival), The Importance of Being Earnest (Grand Theatre, Citadel), Secret Life, Waste, Cavalcade (Shaw Festival), Dancing at Lughnasa (Western Canada Theatre Centre, New Bastion) and Cyberteens in Love (New Play Centre).

Sam Whittingham
Scenic Designer

After graduating from UVic, Sam spent 10 years with many of Canada's top theatres such as the Stratford and Shaw Festivals before settling on Quadra Island with his family. Sam can also be seen in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest man on a bicycle. Previous designs for CTF include Pirates of Penzance, My Fair Lady, She Stoops to Conquer, Hello Dolly, Sound of Music, An Ideal Husband and several others.

Leon Willey
William Smith

This production marks Leon's debut with the festival. Recent credits include: Feste in Twelfth Night (North Shore Theatre,), Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Hendry Hall, West Vancouver), Bobby Strong in Urinetown (Firehall Arts Centre), and Max in Cabaret (The Arts Club's Stanley Theatre).
