"...A comedy, a drama, and a hit!"
Wall Street Journal

The Chemainus Theatre Festival is proud to be presenting Lost in Yonkers, the Pulitzer Prize winning comedy by legendary American playwright Neil Simon, from September 14- November 5, 2006.

Set in the nostalgic wartime 40's in Yonkers, New York, the story is about two young brothers who have to live with their grandmother while their father takes a traveling salesman's job to pay off his debts. And although Grandma owns a candy store, she "ain't no sweetie!" She's an intimidating survivor who is determined to teach the boys life lessons in her own, inimitable way. At Grandma's they meet their extended family, including Uncle Louie, a small time gangster on the run, and Bella, their childlike and warm-hearted aunt.

Lost in Yonkers opened in 1991 and was an instant success with audiences and critics alike. Though many of Simon's plays have won major awards in the past, Lost in Yonkers was the first Simon play to win the Pulitzer Prize. Many critics consider it to be Simon's best work: the pinnacle of his career.

CTF Artistic Director Jeremy Tow is at the helm of this production, with the artistic talents of Scenery Designer Omanie Elias, Costume Designer Karen Levis, Lighting Designer William Mackwood, Sound Designer Brian Linds, Stage Manager David Baughan, and Assistant Stage Manager Aislinn Ritchie.

CTF is delighted to present an outstanding cast for this production: Ryan Beil, Norma Bowen, William Groth, Pam Hyatt, Darren Keltie, and Anita Wittenberg.

Don't miss the chance to see this Pulitzer Prize winner, which runs September 14- November 5, 2006. Ticket prices range from: $25 to $51. Children 12 and under are half price.
